Joint Letter by Transport and Logistics Associations
PRESS RELEASES12 December 2025
The Hellenic Federation of Road Transport (OFAE), together with the undersigned institutional organisations representing the road freight transport and logistics sector, has submitted a joint letter to the Prime Minister of Greece and the competent Ministries, requesting the immediate scheduling of a meeting to address the critical and long-standing issues facing the sector.
ΚΟΙΝΗ ΕΠΙΣΤΟΛΗ ΓΙΑ ΘΕΜΑΤΑ ΜΕΤΑΦ…
The letter underlines that the viability of Greek road freight transport is at a critical point, as a result of accumulated decisions and omissions over recent years, combined with the absence of meaningful support measures and structured dialogue with the sector.
Among the key demands raised are, indicatively:
strengthening the competitiveness of Greek road transport companies,
financial incentives and funding tools for fleet renewal,
effective action against illegal transport operations and unfair competition,
reduction of fuel, toll and ferry transport costs,
full restoration of the issuance and renewal process for digital tachograph cards,
institutional measures to address the acute shortage of professional drivers,
as well as urgent issues related to infrastructure, circulation bans, and port access.
The signatory organisations stress that, in the absence of a concrete and immediate timetable for resolving these issues, the sector has received a mandate from its members to proceed with mobilisations on 21 December 2025, with inevitable consequences for the smooth functioning of the supply chain and the market.
OFAE reiterates its firm commitment to institutional dialogue and pragmatic solutions. However, it is made clear that the limits of tolerance have been exhausted, and that the State must assume its responsibilities towards a sector of strategic importance for the Greek economy and the national supply chain.
