NEW ELECTRONIC BORDER CROSSING SYSTEM IN UKRAINE

eQueue (eЧерга) has been launched since December/2022, and by May/2023 it’s been operational in 16 border crossings between Ukraine and the EU member states.

Due to the misuse of the eQueue by transport operators over the past months, especially when booking a slot for an empty truck, the Ukrainian competent authorities have changed the rules and procedures.

Starting from 5 June 2023 only trucks with confirmed load can register in eQueue, i.e. eQueue will verify this through the database of customs declarations. Registration of empty trucks will be automatically cancelled.

eQueue is currently available only for freight transport but starting from July/2023 buses and coaches will register there, from August/2023 – private cars.

All available sources refer to the eQueue portal http://echerha.gov.ua/ which unfortunately is not accessible for several days, at least from here. On this portal there should be a map with BCPs and a detailed procedure how to book a slot.

After booking a slot, a driver should be able to see:

• his/her status in a queue,
• how the queue advances (moves forward),
• estimated time of arrival to the border crossing point.
