INTERNATIONAL NEWS04 April 2016
Belgium (April 04, 2016)
Following the entry into force of the Belgian road toll on 1 April, there are several demonstrations by road transport operators currently in progress: • road blocks on the A4 at Habay, in both directions; • road blocks on the A8 at the Froyenne interchange, in both directions (the traffic heading into Brussels is at a complete standstill from the Lamain border-crossing); • road blocks on the A8 at the Lessines interchange (29) – only access roads are blocked; access to the Zoning of Ghislenghien is impossible Road blocks at the Marquain interchange (A8#A17) – concern all access roads from Kortrijk to Brussels and vice-versa.
Drivers trying to reach France are advised to use the A16, as of the Tournai-Kain interchange (from Brussels). The Tournai-Froyenne-Kain area should be avoided (A8 and A17). Drivers heading in the direction of Luxemburg should take the E42 towards Liège, then the A27.
