Gearing up towards digital logistics
The IRU Logistics & Innovation Solutions event will be held on 12 April in Amsterdam, where IRU in cooperation with its members, will bring together the road transport and logistics industry to present the latest digital solutions, such as freight exchange platforms, EETS, electronic documents, new telematic features and data sharing practices. The event will also enable transport operators to learn about the most recent and future requirements on transport operations from major shippers and e-commerce platforms. Finally, transport operators will also be able to share experiences with each other and establish mutual business links, as well as with key international shippers and prominent service providers.
We have asked Zeljko Jeftic, IRU Global Innovation, to give a few more words about this Forum and the main idea behind it, and he answered the following:
Q.:Why IRU has initiated the event?
Z.J.:The event is a platform for market leaders to cooperate with IRU member associations. It is a new initiative, created in response to growing interest from the wider industry in the work that we do and in the potential for identifying mutually beneficial business interests between service providers and transport operators such as OFAE.
The upcoming generation of transport operators are seeking premium information about the latest market developments in order to ensure the success of their companies in the coming years and decades. At the same time, they are also keen to meet colleagues from other countries to exchange experiences and establish new business links. The forum will bring the industry’s constituents together to combine intelligence for a stronger future.
Q.: How IRU has identified the theme?
Z.J.: Digitalisation is a key stepping stone between current practice and the fully efficient and automated future. It therefore emerged as a clear theme, which affects every aspect of transport and logistics.
Most of the topics on the agenda are issues that have been discussed between IRU members in the IRU Commission on Services in the past two years – and as such also represent key issues for the wider industry. The event themes have emerged from visionary work by leading member associations and close monitoring of market trends.
OFAE, active member of IRU, will be represented at the forum, while at the same time it has the privilege to invite a few leading logistics companies from Greece, who are the frontrunners in terms of innovation.
Starting from our national e-CMR pilot project, Greece will be represented in this Global Innovation Forum, proving for one more time that our country can be among the leaders who work to create a stronger future!
