Traffic ban to the side roads of Greece for vehicles over 3.5t

Publishment of a new Ministerial Decision, No. DNSg/ Fin. 53 494 / FN 393 (Government Gazette B 2481/11 August 2016) Decision of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, on "Defining exceptions to the ban on crossing side roads" explicity defined the immediate application of the traffic ban to the side roads of our country for vehicles over 3.5t as well as severe sanctions to be imposed in case of violation of these prohibitions.

According to this Decision all vehicles over 3.5t are prohibited to use the side roads of our country. In case of infringement, the sanction is 1000 euro for the owner of the truck and 1000 euro for the driver. Until proof of payment of the fine, the truck stops.

The Ministerial Decision is applicable since 11 August 2016.
